The Photograph Of Krishnapura Chhatries, Indore (Year-1975)

Chhatri Of Srimant Sardar Chimaji Appa Sahib Bolia, Indore

It is located in Krishnapura on the other bank of the Saraswathi River, in MG Road, Indore. It constructed in 1858 AD by Shrimant Sardar Narayan Rao Bolia, in memory of his grandfather in memory of Shrimant Sardar Chimnaji Appa Sahib Bolia, son of Shrimant Sardar Govind Rao Bolia & Bhimabai (Bhimabai Holkar: Daughter of H.H. Maharaja Yashwant Rao Holkar). Similar to the Rajwada, It is a combination of Rajput, Moghul and Maratha architecture. It has one octagon shaped room which depicts rajput style, and the arches resemble to Amer style. In the centre there is situated 'Shiva-Linga' along with the vahan 'Nandi'. There are also the statues of Shimant Sardar Bolia Sarkar and their two wives.

During the night, these Krishnapura Chhatris provide a good sight to the tourists. The Chhatris glow ethereally against the dark of the sky and pay tribute to the great souls of the Holkar rulers. It is a beautiful sight at night when they are illuminated. The artificial lake is decorated with fountains, surrounded by gardens.

Veerangana Bhimabai Holkar (वीरांगना भीमाबाई होळकर)
